Day One - Light Lifting
Thanks Mate is in pilot-phase.
The platform is live!
Lifts are being sent, and every recipient is getting something real...but not what you might expect.
Right now, a lift doesn't come with a gift card. It comes with a moment. Small things, chosen at random, designed to make someone actually pause and feel it. Ten minutes outside. A song you've been meaning to play. A compliment you've been meaning to give. A text you've been meaning to send.
That's on purpose. And it's temporary.
Why we started here
Before we ask brands to sponsor real gifts, we want to know something simpler: does the recognition itself work?
If you tell someone they're a legend and hand them a moment instead of a voucher or gift card, does that still land? Do they still turn around and lift someone else?
That's the number we care about most. Can the act of being recognized… being lifted… make the recipient want to lift someone else in turn? If it does, everything else follows.
Anecdote and research show that gratitude is already a gift. Feeling it, receiving it, improves moods, reduces stress, and makes people more likely to help someone else in turn. We know that recognition itself is a reward. Being seen and called out publicly is the thing people spend careers chasing.
We believe that. We really do. But we also believe that a coffee makes it better. So does a book. So does a donation in your name.
Where we're going
Sponsored gifts will arrive in the next chapter. Brands that would rather sponsor a moment than an ad… we're already in conversations with them. When they land, the reward grid will fill up with coffee, books, donations, experiences, and the cheeky moments will become part of the record.
Until then, every lift you send is evidence. It tells us… and the brands watching… whether the world actually wants this.
What being early means
If you're reading this now, you're at the start of something. The moments you send during the pilot are the story. Send them like they matter, because they will.
Welcome to the appreciation economy.
Thanks, mate.
Eric
